I was feeling nostalgic recently, and I could help but think back on Taylor and Sean’s Flora wedding in San Diego. It was such a sweet wedding, and everyone had a wonderful time celebrating this adorable couple! One thing I remembered about this wedding was for people who couldn’t reveal much about themselves (since they worked in politics), they felt like friends by the end of the night.

Taylor and Sean contacted me saying they wanted their wedding to feel intimate and romantic with moments of surprise and fun. Their wedding design was modern and classy, with coral and maroon shades. I got SO EXCITED when they told me they planned to have their wedding at Flora, and I couldn’t wait to photograph their special day.

Getting Ready With Taylor and Sean

One of my favorite parts about this wedding was being with the whole wedding party while they got ready at a nearby Airbnb. Taylor and her bridesmaids got the top floor, while Sean and his groomsmen had the bottom floor. When I say Taylor’s dress was stunning, I mean it was STUNNING.

The wedding dress had a gorgeous modern bodice with striking long sleeves, unlike anything I’d ever seen before. And Sean looked so handsome in his sleek velvet maroon wedding suit. I loved being able to capture the excitement, but it was even more thrilling to be there for the first look!

Taylor and Sean shared their first look at the patio at the Airbnb before we hopped on a party bus to get to Balboa Park. Since these two lived in DC, they relied on me to find some awesome off-site locations for wedding photos. It took some time to get to Balboa Park, but we settled in quickly, taking photos and enjoying the scenery.

Soon, it was time for Taylor and Sean to head back for their romantic Flora wedding!

A Sweet Flora Wedding

Flora is a gorgeous venue that has various elements of whimsy and fun, like the cool wallpaper and the lush greenery. Taylor and Sean wanted minimal decoration, so they opted for baby’s breath, candles and pops of color for their ceremony and reception. Both Taylor and Sean had moments of tears and laughter at the ceremony, and they clearly couldn’t wait to start their life together.

Next, the bride, groom and guests sat down to a plated dinner at the Floral wedding reception. Taylor and Sean sat at a sweetheart table for dinner, and everyone had fun toasting the happy couple. After a rather enthusiastic cake cutting, it was time to cut a rug on the dance floor!

Reflecting Back

I love looking back on my past sessions, especially with wonderful couples like Taylor and Sean. They were great to work with, and Flora was a totally rad venue. What’s not to love?

Doing a destination wedding of any kind can be a bit stressful, and I was honored Taylor and Sean had faith in me to find some additional locations for their wedding photos. But oftentimes, a leap of faith can really pay off!

If you have a special occasion coming up, I’d love to connect with you.
