A Perfect Day For A Little Family
When Megan and Tommy asked me to photograph their “vintage formal garden party chic” wedding, I was ALL IN. Not only was this a Darlington House wedding (one of my favorite venues in San Diego) but the wedding had such an amazing vision. I couldn’t wait!
Megan and Tommy found me through Wedding Rule, where I was listed as one of San Diego's top wedding photographers! They let me know that they wanted Tommy’s son, Jack, to be a big part of their day. I LOVED getting to know Jack, and I was so happy when they brought him to their engagement shoot beforehand, so he could be comfortable with me for the wedding.
Everything about the day was classic, chic, and crisp. The day was really special, from getting ready to personalized vows and some truly incredible architecture. It was a Darlington House wedding for the books!
A Timeless Garden Party Theme
Who doesn’t love a garden party? If you’re someone who’s interested in a vintage-themed wedding with a classic garden party vibe, consider a Darlington House wedding. Megan and Tommy knew exactly how they wanted their wedding to look, from the vintage champagne glasses to the checkered dance floor.
Plus, these two are just about the cutest couple you’ll ever meet. Megan is an artist and former dancer and Tommy is an engineer. They make the ultimate left brain/right brain combination, and it is the PERFECT match.
Tommy and Jack got ready together, which was downright adorable. Then they had their very own impromptu first look as a family! Megan and Tommy really wanted Jack to be a part of the day in every aspect, which was beautiful to see.
Soon, it was time for the ceremony!
Only Happy Tears For This Darlington House Wedding
As if these three weren’t sweet enough as it is, Megan prepared vows for Tommy and for Jack; there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! But if people weren’t shedding tears of joy, they were laughing or smiling. It was one of the most joyful weddings I think I”ve ever experienced!
We were able to sneak away and grab some additional wedding pictures to really feature the amazing architecture of the Darlington House. There was so much fun light to play with too, so I geeked out a bit finding unique lighting and locations for us.
Before long, it was time for the reception: dinner, drinks, deserts and dancing with friends and family! Everyone had a great time, and I couldn’t help but feel excited for Megan, Tommy and Jack. They were some of the kindest people I've ever worked with and it was such a gift to bring this to life for them.
To Sum Up
Life doesn’t follow a single, upward trajectory. It’s full of hills and valleys, highs and lows, and a couple of loops thrown in there. But at the end of the day, the people you share your journey with are what makes it worthwhile. Seeing Megan, Tommy and Jack come together as a family was really beautiful, and I loved capturing this special day for them.
If you’re planning a wedding in San Diego, I’d love to hear about your vision!
