Getting Hitched At Rimrock Ranch

I absolutely love Southern California. It’s one of my favorite places to visit, and photographing Allie and Andrew’s bohemian Joshua Tree wedding at Rimrock Ranch made my trip all the more exciting!

I connected with Allie on The Knot when she reached out to ask if I could photograph their engagement photos. Getting to meet them was such a treat, as they’re probably one of the coolest, most laid-back couples I’ve ever met. And their bohemian Joshua Tree wedding further proved just how rad they are!

A Joshua Tree Wedding With Style

There are so many ways you can do a Joshua Tree wedding; whether it’s desert-themed, romantic or nature-focused, you’re guaranteed to have a stunning ceremony. Allie and Andrew’s wedding was no exception.

They wanted their wedding to be a simple, candid, bohemian celebration of their love. Octagonal floral-covered wedding arch? You bet. Disco balls hanging mid-air? Absolutely. A sign that said, “Put your fucking phones away”? Why not!

This couple is so unique, and their Joshua Tree wedding reflected every aspect of their authentic style.

A Lovely Ceremony Followed By Secret Vows

Being there as Allie and Andrew got ready for their big day was a blast. Allie wore an edgy Vivienne Westwood wedding dress that was positively stunning. And Andrew looked so handsome in his vintage, deep brown suit, which fit perfectly with their wedding colors.

Allie and Andrew stood beneath disco balls, floral arches and the gorgeous California sky to proclaim their love for one another before their friends and family. Then, they ran off to a secluded spot with a blanket and some beers to celebrate in private and read their vows to one another.

Capturing this special moment was a little tricky, as Allie and Andrew wanted to be alone for this part of their wedding. But I was still able take a few lovely pictures from far away, so as not to disturb the sweet couple.

Soon, it was time to party at the wedding reception!

This Couple Takes The Cake

I think it’s safe to say that this delightfully fun couple is anything but traditional. Allie and Andrew didn’t want to do a traditional cake cutting for their Joshua Tree wedding. So instead, they just took two big bites RIGHT OUT OF THE CAKE!

It was hilarious and probably one of my favorite wedding photos ever. And it set the tone for the rest of the night: cut loose and have fun! Since all their guests were staying at Rimrock Ranch or somewhere nearby, everyone was fully present and enjoyed the evening together.

The night ended at the infamous Pappy and Harriet's bar, where Allie and Andrew toasted to their new life together. It was an iconic ending to a truly epic day for this amazing couple and their beautiful Joshua Tree wedding.

Final Thoughts

From start to finish, this was one of my absolute favorite weddings to photograph. The gorgeous Southern California background was magical, and this couple’s unique style fit the venue perfectly.

Allie and Andrew’s wedding reminded me that being yourself is one of the best things you can be. And at the end of the day, you’re sure to find someone who loves you exactly as you are.

If you have a special event coming up, I’d love to work with you!
